Universal Setters
We currently offer 3 styles of universal setters. Although any of the universal setters will work with each and every eyelet shape we offer, we have highlighted some advantages of each style below.
Pointed Tip: The mainstay of the industry, the pointed tip setter will open the flange on the back of your eyelet. To flatten the back, you will need to tap it directly with your hammer. This style setter is recommended to use on the second (smaller) eyelet when double setting eyelets.
Rounded Tip: The rounded tip setter has a flat ridge just beyond the tip. The flat ridge helps to roll down the back of the eyelet producing a nice finished look to the back of your work. This setter was our #1 choice prior to the introduction of the split-style setter.
Split-Style Setter: The star shape at the base of the tiny point uniformly split’s the back of your eyelet and flattens it to your project. This setter is our #1 choice, and is particularly helpful when working with brass or larger shape eyelets.
